In this short silent film, shot by the Pilot Landing Aid Television system, known as PLAT, a crippled Vought F-8 Crusader makes a barrier landing. The Mark-V barricade shown in the film was developed to arrest disabled aircraft which, for whatever reason, are not able to land by conventional "hook on a cable" means. In this instance, the landing is a success, the pilot walked away unscathed and the aircraft was salvageable.
